Rollercoasters, waterpark, and other thrill rides bring visitors from all directions to Carowinds. The park has popular season passes available to area residents.

Play all day and party all night at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, where outdoor enthusiasts and thrill seekers can ride the rapids, zip line, take the ropes course challenge, mountain bike, kayak, paddleboard and participate in group activities. The center features a restaurant and special dinner events throughout the year. Spring through fall, enjoy live music and adult beverages on the outside pavilions.

McDowell Nature Center and Preserve is just off York Road and features 1,107 acres on Lake Wylie and the only public boat launch (Copperhead Island) to that lake in Mecklenburg County. Campers can enjoy the 56-site campground and day-trippers can hike the 7 miles of trails in the park.
