Happy New Year!!

Dick Clark once said, “You and I have been a part of each other’s lives for so many New Year’s Eves that I wouldn’t have missed this for the world.”  I am sure that tonight would not have been any different had Dick Clark not passed away this past April.  Since 1972, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has been a staple in our homes, whether we sat around the TV all alone or in the company of family and friends.  Dick Clark brought us all together on New Year’s Eve for the greatest party on earth and invited the year’s top artist to perform their hits of the past year (Carly Rae Jepson and PSY, we are going to rock out one more time before midnight and that will be that) and to watch the ball drop in times square.  Although he won’t be with us physically, he will be  in spirit.  In fact one of the Waterford crystal triangles on the ball in Times Square will bear his name.   It is definitely an end of the era and just as he has done for the past five years, Ryan Seacrest will do a great job but this year will be a little empty without television’s oldest teenager.

For now, Dick Clark…so long.

Resident Satisfaction Surveys

On January 2, 2013, we will initiate a new resident satisfaction program which will survey 100% of our residents at least once every 12 months.

Our goal is to boost resident satisfaction and loyalty through better customer service in our never-ending efforts to lower turnover and improve the “bottom line” of our clients.

The customized program by Satisfacts, a leader in resident relationship management services, will use a web-based, e-mail program to anonymously gather opinions and feedback about each resident’s experience with our firm.

2012 Year in Review

Every December, local property managers are asked to submit the number of units under their care to The Business Journal.   The results are published in early February. This year we are proud to say :


  • The number of rental houses under our care has increased by a net of 100-150 per year for the last 3 years.
  • This year’s increase (+ 157) is the largest in many years and is a direct result of acquiring the Genesis Realty portfolio (159 units).
  • The number of rental condos under our care increased more in 2012 than in any of the previous 5 years.
  • Over the last 7 years (2005-2012), our portfolio has grown by 499 units or +22% over 7 years    (average:  + 3.14%/year)
  • Over the last 12 months, our portfolio has grown by 189 units or + 7.0% for 2012.

2012 was a very good year for T. R. Lawing Realty in regards to the number of units under our care, occupancy levels and gross rent collections as well as maintaining a strong & respected position in the marketplace because of a very skilled, professional & dedicated staff.

Looking forward to a prosperous New Year in 2013!

We’re On TV!!!

T. R. Lawing Realty will air 500 TV commercials each week in December in the Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius, Lake Norman and Birkdale markets.

Thanks to Marcia Merrill of Red Rover Communications and the acting expertise of Property Manager, Brenda Armstrong and Vice-President, Joe Rempson and others, the ad will start running this week.
