2009 Columbus Day Training

Our 2nd all-day, all-employees Training Day was held in the new Conference Center of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Topics included foreclosures & tenants' rights, new lead based paint rules and working with the 7 protected categories under the Fair Housing statutes as well as foreign nationals. Everyone participated in an extended program focused on being the very best that each of us can be and ended with a memorable "board break."

Supra Locks on 100% of Houses Over $900

T. R. Lawing Realty was the first property manager in the Charlotte market to put Supra locks on 100% of its vacant houses over $900 per month.

More than 7,000 local Realtors are now able to show our vacancies without making appointments or picking up keys.

Every Realtor received a postcard announcement.

15% REALTOR Rental Referral Fee

T. R. Lawing Realty was the first property manager in the Charlotte market to offer a rental referral fee of 15% (instead of 10%) to all local REALTORS.

Rentals.com and 30 Website Portals

A new contract was executed with Rentals.com and its family of sites to provide every T. R. Lawing Realty listing with "Premier" exposure and discounted rates.

At about the same time, 2 additional rental portals, Dothomes and Hotpads, were integrated into www.trlawing.com, Rentals.com and our local MLS portal to maximize the exposure of every T. R. Lawing Realty vacancy.

We currently link 100% of our vacancy listings to 30 real estate and rental portals.

Realtors Care Day

Joe Rempson, Property Manager at T. R. Lawing Realty, suggested and spearheaded this inaugural service project for the Charlotte Regional Realtors Association (CRRA) and its Housing Opportunity Foundation (HOF).

More than 700 Realtors roofed, painted and repaired 33 homes across our region.

A week later, Joe was selected as WBT's Hometown Hero for his leadership of Realtors Care Day.

Joe is a 1999 graduate of the inaugural CRRA Leadership Development Program.

Brenda Armstrong, Property Manager with T. R. Lawing Realty, was selected to Chair the 2009 Fair & Affordable Housing Advisory Council of the Charlotte Regional Realtors Assoc (CRRA). Brenda is a 2007 graduate of the CRRA Leadership Development Program.

2008 Columbus Day Training

While our office was closed for Columbus Day, the entire staff (management, leasing, accounting & maintenance) participated in our first, full-day of off-site training. The program consisted of a walking tour of constantly-changing Uptown Charlotte, 4 speakers (Center City, Fair Housing, Communications/Customer Service and Supplemental Insurance Benefits) in the Charlotte Convention Center, a ride on the new Blue Lynx light rail and a bus tour of 20+ properties in our portfolio

ERA Wilder Realty

T. R. Lawing Realty acquired the management of the rental portfolio of ERA Wilder Realty, a regional firm specializing in residential sales. This portfolio consisted of approximately 50 rental houses & condos, mostly in North Mecklenburg and owned by approximately 40 individual investors.

Greater Charlotte Biz

As one of an elite group of 520 property management companies nationwide, T. R. Lawing Realty was reaccredited as an Accredited Management Organization (AMO) by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). T. R. Lawing Realty is the 2nd oldest AMO firm in the Carolinas.

50th Anniversary

2nd Rental Office

Lawing Realty opened its 2nd property management office at 8936 NorthPointe Executive Park Dr (near Birkdale Shopping Center) to serve the numerous communities in North Mecklenburg (Cornelius, Huntersville and Davidson) and Iredell counties (Mooresville & Statesville). The office managed by Brenda Armstrong, Property Manager.
